Moldamirco, Metalomecânica de Moldes e Ferramentas, Lda was founded in July 1999 by António Dâmaso, Paulo Couto and Júlio Couto.
Its initial goal was to contribute to the local industries by providing metalworking services.
Located in the Ave Valley region, Moldamirco started to focus its services almost exclusively in repairing tire molds (thanks to the large experience of its co-workers at the time), later widening its activity to creating and developing Thermoforming Molds for Plastic, Rubber, Machinery and Tools.
In 1999 the plant had an area of 250m2 and 9 co-workers. In 2001 it was decided that the business needed to grow properly, and so Moldamirco moved to a warehouse in the Carvalhosa Industrial Area with an area of 800m2, buying new equipment and machinery, increasing its labor force and diversifying from the core business, providing such new services as industrial maintenance, technical parts, and manufacturing tailor-made machinery. In 2003, due to the thriving business, the adjacent warehouse was bought and the plant increased its area to 1600m2.
Resources
Moldamirco has from its foundation established a partnership with CENFIM Trofa – Technical School for the Metallurgy and Metalworking Industry, aiming to provide its students with a proper training in the industry and thus obtaining qualified personnel. Today more than 50% of Moldamirco’s co-workers were CENFIM’s trainees. In 2006 a partnership was started with FORAVE Professional School with the same goal.
It is important to say that the metallurgy and metalworking industry is currently the only sector in Portugal considered a net job creator. Today, Moldamirco is an SME with 23 qualified factory co-workers, most of which came from CENFIM. We also have a highly qualified technical department focused on analyzing and developing more complex projects. As to our industrial machinery it consists of modern machinery such as:
